For a long time now, we had been trying to get a video of the guesthouse. And after a few failed trials, we finally got it! I think Camilla from the Set film studio in Mitzpe Ramon did a great job in capturing the atmosphere of our place. For an editor of short movies, thrown in a place she doesn’t really know for just a few hours, it has to be the most difficult thing to do.
We can now check a few boxes in our to do list.

Annual June renovation job: the South African room is having a face lift. Like the others it will very soon have a kitchenette, bigger terrasse and a livingroom/sleeping area for children.
Every morning I wake up at 5am and for want of a better thing to do I go for a walk. The first half of the walk I do on a paved road because it is pitch dark and I don’t want to fall over a rock or a hyena.
Our neighbour is a plant physiologist and his specialty is citrus; he travels around the world attending conferences and meeting growers. He is pretty knowledgeable. He had a dozen Valencia orange saplings lying around his laboratory which had been used in an experiment and were designated for disposal, so he bunged them in the back of his car and brought them home.
We are not Isrotel, we have four rooms. But still we need to identify them. “Take two towels to the green room”, my wife commanded me. “You mean the blue room”, I said. She is a little colour blind, my wife.
When I came to Israel from England 33 years ago, I stumbled into this village, a university research campus with a ridiculous view into the desert, the people were kind, unspoilt and welcoming.
